Hair Extensions FAQ

Who are extensions for?

Extensions are recommended for anyone who’s looking to enhance their hair.  They’re effective for adding a small amount of volume for thickness and to fill out thinner areas, or for someone who’s looking to have a big change, by adding lots of length and volume.

Can you have extensions with a balayage?

Yes, we can tailor your extensions to create a balayage look.

Do extensions cause hair damage?

The good news is extensions won’t damage your hair if you follow the maintenance advice and wear them for the specified length of time.

Will extensions cause hair loss if it's thin?

No! As long as you have a consultation beforehand and decide on the right method and amount for your hair, you shouldn't have any problems. We offer a range of methods for this reason and would recommend a smaller amount like a “half head” to add less weight.

How should you care for extensions?

The top three things we recommend are: using a volume or clarify shampoo, wearing hair in a mid-to-low ponytail, and not to wear any high buns or ponytails (as over-direction isn’t safe for your own hair). And always rough dry your hair with your hands to around 80% before styling with a brush.

Do extensions work for all hair types?

Different methods work better for different hair types. Your stylist should talk you through which is best for you.

How do you remove extensions?

The method you’ve employed will determine how they’re removed, but you should always have the removal performed by a specialist so you don't damage the roots.

How do you care for your hair after you've had extensions removed?

Just like you did before; nothing will change. If you’ve worn your extensions for a couple of months however, you may want to have your ends trimmed as you normally would.

Is it okay to have extensions removed and put right back in, or should you give your hair a break?

If you look after them properly there’s no need to have a waiting period before they’re put back in.

Is there anyone who shouldn't get extensions?

Usually there is always a method which suits all hair types. For clients who are suffering from hair loss, we would recommend waiting until the hair is stable before getting extensions.

How much do hair extensions cost?

A 15-minute consultation is required.

Prices vary on amount and length you decide to have, which is established at your consultation. You will then purchase your hairbands and schedule your application appointment. Extensions must be purchased in full, or a deposit of half the total cost must be made at the consultation to make your application appointment.
